As we approach Thanksgiving, the New Rochelle Downtown BID Farmer’s Market would like to take the opportunity to thank all the folks who supported our new and expanded market on the Library Green this season.
Our Saturday market was bigger than ever before and offered more variety from artisanal breads and cheeses to organic baby greens to handcrafted empanadas and locally-grown flowers sold from a glossy vintage truck.
We also offered live music every single Saturday.
This could not have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors. As a Presenting Sponsor, Montefiore New Rochelle helped with funding, but also routinely sent doctors and nurses and community health educators to the Market Green to deliver cooking demos, health screenings, and breast-feeding awareness programs.
“Understanding that health and wellness is hyper-local and begins with community, Montefiore routinely works to bring health services and education outside the walls of our facilities and directly into the communities we serve,” said Melissa Cebollero, Senior Director of the Office of Government & Community Relations at Montefiore.
Once again, A. Bulfamante Landscaping provided employees to help with market set-up every week. They unfurled tents, set up the sound system as well as all of our tables and chairs.
Specifically, the market thanks Bulfamante employees Dean Roberts, Markey Ramsey, Kenza Brady, and Amin Anderson, for being so reliable on Saturdays. They never missed a market and their brawn was invaluable.
Of course, our partner, the New Rochelle Public Library contributed to the market’s success by providing fun and creative activities at Ruby Dee Park all season long to help draw people to the marketplace. Thank you Barbara Davis!
We’d also like to thank our wonderful on-site manager Rebecca Gomez, and her helper Jess Gilman as well as the farmers and food producers who make the trek every Saturday to sell their wares.
